ZIG ZAG - Portes ouvertes des ateliers d’artistes de Gentilly - 2012

Of course my students are invited too... but don't come on Friday! Saturday or Sunday afternoon is fine!  By the way, the 57 bus stops in front of my door... (the "rue d'Arcueil" bus stop) otherwise it's 10 minutes from the back exit of the RER Gentilly (just after the Cité U).

David will be our guest on Thursday.  You might want to have a look at this Camping video. Did you send him your CV (with a copy to me)?
See you tomorrow, Tuesday, and Thursday for our last class with David.

"Everybody wants to hire great people. But there is a lot of competition and not everybody may know your startup. You have to be convincing and to know exactly what you want. For that, you should ask you some simple questions like : "In twelve months, what will this person have achieved?", "Do I like this person from a personal standpoint?" All of David Bizer's tips, Talent Geek at HackFwd, in this excellent video."

Folklore.org: Macintosh Stories

Folklore.org: Macintosh Stories:
The Original Macintosh
Anecdotes about the development of Apple's original Macintosh computer, and the people who created it. (119 stories)

Here you can read about what Andy Hertzfeld did for the Macintosh... BTW, he's the googler that designed the Google+ circles...

(Andy also wrote the Python scripts for the folklore.org website... It's an interesting read about the Macintosh team and Steve Jobs' management style back then! )

The anecdotes on this site were turned into a book: Revolution in the Valley, published by O'Reilly Media in December 2004.

Comments anyone? Looking forward to seeing group 2 tomorrow in E101.

David Pogue Playlist - Video Library - The New York Times

David Pogue Playlist - Video Library - The New York Times

In grade school, when you're ten years old, "Show and Tell" is a common activity.... You bring something to class and talk about it.

Here's a "funny" David Pogue video about the iPhone 4S. Have a look in the technology videos on the NY Times site to find more. The one about the Google Wallet is good too....

What do you think? Is this funny? Please leave a comment.
Looking forward to seeing you all in March!

Over the past few months, I spent a lot of time reading various articles about startups: how to identify the best ideas, how to find the right people for your project, how to avoid common mistakes, how to make it grow without ending up with a disorganized structure. I was also interested in a topic that is more specific to non-American entrepreneurs: how to build your startup in the US without being a US citizen.

Here are "a few" articles I kept in my dedicated bookmarks folder. At least 90% of them are articles from TechCrunch, sorry about that. Some articles might be irrelevant, but I hope you will find a few interesting ones in there :)

Articles:

Good luck reading all this! Please share your own favorite links in the comments.

Don't be childish.

Hello guys,

I don't know if you have followed the whole Google + Search integration drama but I thought that article about how Twitter & Facebook were pretty childish about this issue was interesting.

http://gigaom.com/2012/01/23/dont-be-evil-is-not-a-slogan-nor-a-browser-extension/

Has anyone tried the "Don't be evil" extension?

What are your thoughts?

"I recently interviewed at a major technology company. I won't mention the name because, honestly, I can't remember whether I signed an NDA, much less how strong it was.

I did well. Mostly because of luck. I normally step over myself when I interview. I guess I've improved over the years. Here are a few tips to ace your own interview......"

Let's sing!

Hi everyone,

I didn't sing during our last English class 'cause I'm such a bad singer. Instead, I have something that you might find interesting (specially if you love Queen):

This is a YouTube video from Google to promote Google+ Hangout and it's just awesome! If you have time check the Google YouTube Channel, they made really good videos.

I can't sing but do you know you can make your Mac sing?
Open a terminal and copy-paste this: say -v "Good News" "I'm just a poor boy, nobody loves me"

Have a nice week everyone, see you soon
Julien

And just a little bonus because I took too much time to post this (I should have post it last Friday): here the last Google video about the new Google Search Engine features (posted on YouTube yesterday).

Looks great to me. I want to test it!
